“Stuck in weather at the San Francisco Airport yesterday, and trying to keep amused, we nearly fainted as we came upon the most beautiful and astounding exhibit of Catalina pottery and tile! We were completely floored.
This is a fantastic and very informative display. You should have heard all the comments from the travelers as they passed through. Everyone’s conversation turned to Catalina Island. “Have you ever been there before?” “Look how beautiful this pottery is!” “Where is Catalina Island?” Many people were taking pictures of the displays and the poster boards. Anyway, Excellent Job and Congratulations! ”

The Catalina Exhibit at the SFO (San Francisco Airport) Museum is up and running as of February 2nd through August 2008, although finishing touches are still being added. This is the largest display ever of vintage Catalina tile, pottery, and related imagery in over 40 cases and it can be viewed by passengers in the United and American Domestic terminal. Millions of passengers will pass through this airport over the next 7 months, and it is hoped that they will be informed and enlightened regarding Catalina’s colorful ceramic legacy. We will be able to arrange tours for up to 20 interested collectors at a time in the coming months, so contact us if you would like to be included. Serendipitously, Catalina collectors Gerry Orcholski and Jim Phillips were stuck at the airport that first day and stumbled upon the exhibit. More to follow…..

The Los Angeles Pottery Show will be here before you know it. It is the premiere vintage pottery and tile show and it runs for two days only, Feb. 9th (Sat. 10-6) & Feb. 10th (Sun. 10-4) with over 95 exhibitors. It’s the best place to find that special piece of Catalina pottery or tile, and at a good price. Held at The Pasadena Center, come early for the best parking. Admission is $12.00 per person, $10.00 with a discount card to be found at most Pasadena Antique shops.  Most people enjoy going to the show and visiting the shops. Hope to see you there!
